Do you want to be in the truck, or own the trucks?

The first question we ask every buyer, and why the answer changes everything about the shortlist.

The first real question I ask on a call is this: do you want to be in the truck, or own the trucks?

It sounds like a joke. It is the most important answer you will give us.

In the truck

Owner-operators do the work themselves, at least at first. Startup costs are usually lower, and you control quality directly. Your income is tied to your hours, and that is fine if you like the work and want to build slowly.

Own the trucks

Semi-absentee or executive owners hire a manager and a crew and run the business through people. It costs more to start, takes longer to break even, and depends entirely on your ability to hire and keep good staff. It also scales, and it does not require you to quit your job on day one.

Why it matters

The same brand can be a great fit for one path and a bad fit for the other. When you tell us which one you want, we can cut the list from hundreds of brands to the handful that make sense for your budget and your life.

A few questions, about 5 minutes. Costs you nothing. Franchisors pay us, and we still tell you when to walk away.

Open Territory

Franchises that still need people.
